Description
Adult Black Soldier Flies are slow-flying and irresistible to insect-eating lizards large enough to eat a slender fly that is about an inch long. Even adult bearded dragons love black soldier flies! Lizards will often leap into the air to snag them, making black soldier flies among the most entertaining feeders available! They also boast an impressive nutrient profile and contain high levels of calcium, though not as much as the larvae.
These come in a 32 oz deli cup, with about 200 BSF pupae, and a suitable substrate for them to burrow into. We offer both Producing Cultures, which will begin to produce flies immediately, and Freshly-Started Cultures, which will begin producing flies in 10 – 14 days at a warm room temperature. If you buy one of each, you will have fresh feeder flies for about a month!
Newly-hatched flies will gather on the lid of the deli cup, which can be gently removed and the flies tapped into the enclosure. Any escapees are slow-flying and easy to catch.
